What our calculators are designed to do
Margenao provides independent planning tools that help ecommerce sellers estimate per-order costs, marketplace fees, contribution and pricing scenarios. Results are estimates based on the values entered by the visitor; they are not quotes from a marketplace, payment processor, carrier, tax authority or accounting professional.
How calculations are built
Each calculator combines the revenue, fixed costs and percentage-based fees represented by its input fields. Percentage fees are generally applied to the relevant sales amount defined in the calculator. Fixed per-order charges are added separately. Net profit is estimated by subtracting the listed costs and fees from the revenue represented in the model.
Some platforms calculate fees using category, seller status, subscription, country, shipping amount, tax treatment, promotions, minimums, caps or other account-specific rules. A simplified calculator may not represent every exception. Review the fee breakdown and adjust the assumptions to match your own account.
How to verify an estimate
- Check current fees in the official platform documentation for your country and category.
- Compare the model with actual order statements and payment payouts.
- Include costs specific to your operation, such as returns, storage, inbound freight, discounts and advertising.
- Reconcile estimates against real results regularly, especially after platform fee changes.
Editorial independence
Margenao is an independent educational resource. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay, Etsy, Amazon, Shopify or their related companies. Platform names identify the selling channels discussed. We aim to explain assumptions clearly and encourage readers to verify important decisions using primary account records and official documentation.
Corrections
Fee schedules and platform policies change. If you find a calculation or explanation that appears inaccurate, verify it against the relevant platform source before relying on it.
